INSTALLATION TUTORIAL
Your JUXTAFORM shipment will include the folded fabric panels,
triangle hooks for each panel point, clear monofilament and installation instructions.
|
Please read the INSTALLATION CHECKLIST thoroughly and make copies for your installation team.
|
To begin the process, we recommend each designer review their
drawings with the installation team, especially if they will not be present for the instal-lation. Scout the "point locations" that will connect to walls, ceilings or floors. Plan a temporary method for attaching to something at each location (small nail or brad/screw/wire loop/concrete nail/"C" clamp). Very small brads directly into wood or drywall work well as temporary connectors and holes
are easily concealed when the panel is finally in place.
|
For temporary floor points you can use any heavy object you can tie to and move as required. Since there is very little strain on any attachment point, consider elements already in place such as hardware on walls, screws on ducts or vents, sprinkler plumbing or light fixtures for example. Be aware
that "temporary" details can become final details if they look the way you
wish them to. The most common drywall permanent detail is the smallest
wall anchor and the smallest "eye" screw that fits that anchor.

Avoid flat and un-tensioned panels:

Strive for three-dimensionality:
|
|
|
When installing multiple panels, begin with the highest or farthest panel.
Start with the panel point you feel most certain about. Rather than select
the next point on either side of that one, it will be more helpful to go to
an opposite point, or points. The goal is to get the panel generally in place
and move on to the next panel in the composition. Select the most
|
difficult interrelating point of that panel and begin there. Don't hesitate to move a point, no matter how slight the shift, if you see that it improves the
3D form and the overall composition. Once all panels are in the air you'll want to finalize all attachment points. Replace all temporary hardware as desired. Remember, panels must be pulled taut.

INSTALLATION CHECKLIST
Single Panel -
- Place temporary connectors (small nails, screws, "C" clamps, etc) at generally predicted attachment point locations.
- Tie monofilament securely to triangle hooks for those points requiring lines.
- Slip triangle hooks through panel point loops before beginning install.
- Attach "key" point (first in the series). Move to "opposite" point to get panel airborne.
- Connect remaining panel points.
- Tighten all adjustable (monofilament) points evenly and study overall shape. Move points as required to improve overall form.
Look for edge "curves" to have a smooth, graceful arc, rather than be forced and flat. Do not over tighten any point.
- Replace temporary attachment devices with permanent ones, if required.
Multiple Panels -
- Select highest or farthest panel to install first, and complete steps #1 through #6.
- Determine installation order for remaining panels based on convenience and ease of maneuvering with the site.
- Proceed with steps #1 through #6 for all panels of the composition.
- When all panels have been generally placed (installed), complete steps #6 and #7 for all panels.
NOTE: It is recommended that each panel, or composition, be photographed upon completion of installation so that there is
a record of the approved configuration, in the event that the panel should ever need to be taken down or replaced by others
than the original installation team.
